Welcome to Hedgehogs’ Class
Our class teacher is Mrs Guest and our Teaching Assistants are Mrs Lowe and Mrs Latif.
This half term we will be learning about Traditional tales. In literacy we will adapt the story of Little Red Riding Hood, create a non fiction diary of growing a beanstalk and look at poetry using other traditional tales. We will learn about the features of a traditional tale as well as looking closely at some of the key characters.
Let’s go on an adventure!
During this half term the children will learn about pirates. They will explore the world including the arctic, China and the Chinese New Year and India. They will look at the tools the pirates need and take part in an adventure day at Marsden Park Forest School where they will become pirates for the day.
What is this toys story?
During this theme the children will learn about toys. They will explore toys from the past and what toys are made of. In addition we will also enjoy a trip to the Toy museum where we will look at the differences and similarities of toys from the past, we will learn how to play games that were played in the past and make our own toy.
In RE we will learn about special people and about the nativity. The children will also take part in the EYFS and KS1 nativity performance.
Do all Superheroes wear capes?
Looking closely at people who help us in our community. The children will explore the different roles of people working in our school as well as those who help us in the wider community such as the police, fire service and paramedics.
In RE the children will learn that they are special to us as new members of our school community and they are special to God. They will also explore the importance of Harvest and being thankful the food we receive.
We must read at home with an adult at least 3 times per week. Our adults must sign our home/school reading diaries each time we read at home. Our home reading books will be changed once per week, but if you would like a new book more regularly please speak to one of the EYFS staff.
We must practise our Maths skills at least 3 times per week. Our targets are in our home/school Maths record books and adults must sign these each time we practise our target. New targets will be given once per week.
If you have opted in for your child to receive home learning, then the guidance will be placed in home learning logs at the beginning of each half term. Activities will be dated with a completion date and we will also send home key vocabulary linked to learning.
