Welcome to Year 2- Kestrels

Our class teacher is Miss Brown.

Mrs Hanley also helps us with our learning in a morning and afternoon.

 

We are expected to read at least three times a week and books can be changed at anytime when they have been read.

Homework is set weekly every Friday via Google Classroom and due in the following Wednesday.

 

In the morning:

 Phonics, Maths, Guided Reading and Literacy.

In the afternoon:

Worship and Wider curriculum (Science, Art, DT, PE, History, Geography, PSHE and RE)

Our PE day is Friday and children are expected to wear full PE kit.

On Thursday afternoons we have Junior Jam to help us with our learning. In Junior Jam we do ICT, the Arts and Music.

Spring term

We have had a super start to our spring term. 

We have been reading lots of different stories about Bob's adventures on the Moon by Simon Bartram, we have even created our own adventure for Bob.

Geography- We have learnt all about the seven continents and five oceans this half term. We have explored the human and physical features of different continent and located where we are in the world.

Science - We have been super scientist and carried out lots of different experiments testing different materials.

Autumn term.

We have had a fantastic start to year 2. 

We have read lots of books and produced some super writing. 

We have created our own stories in the style of the Jolly Postman and recreated some of our favourite fairy tales using Prince Cinders as our inspiration.

We created some fantastic non- chronological reports about Blackpool and displayed these on our corridors.

 

RE

In RE we looked at why the church was a special place for christians, we made a visit to our church where we meet with our vicar and were shown around the church and we found out why it was special to Christians.

History

In History this half term we looked at Remembrance. We investigated why people wear poppies, who we are remembering and looked at the significance of remembrance day so many years later. We created our own poppy wreaths and displayed them in our reflection area.

Food Fortnight

In food fortnight we learnt to chop, grate, peel and cut different salad ingredients to make our own healthy salads. We enjoyed tasty different salad ingredients and designing different salads.
