BONJOUR!
The modern foreign language that we teach at Great Marsden St John's is French. This is taught to all children in KS2, from year 3 onwards. 3 topics are taught each year and most units taught in year 3 and 4 are built upon when taught in year 5 and 6. This way the children are given the opportunity to recall information and build on their knowledge base.
Lessons are taught in 1 hour sessions, but the children are also given the opportunity to practise their learning at other times of the school day - when answering the register for example. In year groups 4, 5 and 6,there are a number of French labels on objects throughout the classroom to help with the recall of vocabulary. These are brought into use in year 3 once the vocabulary has been taught. Below is our curriculum and the topics it features.
